The chestnut is available in winter; in Spain it is the tradition that the typical chestnut sellers (castañeras) sell them roasted in the street.
The fruit mature, drop and are harvested between September and November, reason why it is considered as a winter fruit. In Spain, according to the area there are chestnuts during the following months:
