Mandarin, Citrus reticulata / Rutaceae
In the supermarkets we usually find mandarins either in bags or nets of 1 or 2 kg, or loose units in boxes up to 15 kg to be selected by the consumer. The expanded polystyrene trays of 6 or 8 units are also usual.

We also find mandarins displayed in the counters of the fruit section in trays of 10 and 15 kg, with the fruits arranged in several layers, aesthetically well distributed for the consumer to select them. Many of the mandarins in these boxes are wraped in paper and showing the label of the trade brand to call the attention of the purchaser.

In some supermarkets there are containers of 60 and 180 kg, great boxes whose base is a pallet, where the nets of 1 or 2 kg are placed.

In many shopping centers mandarins are placed in expanded polystyrene trays of 6 or 8 units, covered with plastic film, in order to save space in the consumer’s pantry. They are easier to buy and at the same time more attractive for the consumer.
